FAQs

Below you will find some of our most frequently asked questions about our tours:

How is TravelEd different to other agents?

TravelEd works extensively with ground operators and Destination Management Companies throughout the globe; building relationships to ensure we have access to the best possible experiences that will ensure your tour is successful and to suit your budget. We also have access to educational experiences and those special sightseeing options that may not be possible to arrange from Australia. This gives you the flexibility to tailor the tour to suit subject objectives required.

Our passion is creating tailor-made tours with teachers to bring their objectives to life, whilst providing the flexibility to inspire, motivate and embrace new learning experiences for students. Our goal is to provide an unforgettable travel experience that is safe, well-coordinated and beneficial for student and teacher personal growth.  TravelEd believe in strong values which include safety, integrity, empathy, creativity, team work and a strong community spirit. Our team are committed and focussed on these values and ensure that an unwavering focus on passenger safety is at the forefront with everything we do. Our integrity is second to none; with a commitment to open and honest communication in any situation.

We ensure that you have 24/7 support whilst on tour, with ground support and access to someone in Australia at all times.

What are TravelEd's most popular tours?

Our most popular touring destinations are Asia, Europe, UK, USA and New Zealand.

What type of guides do TravelEd use?

TravelEd have experienced and professional tour guides who are able to travel with your group from Australia to help with all procedures whilst on tour. If this isn’t necessary, we also have ground operators and local guides all over the world with local history and information to impart on our groups. We try to use the same and familiar guides who we trust and will be great with our groups if available.

Are TravelEd insured?

TravelEd are fully accredited and proud members of the Helloworld Group of Travel Agents. We are also members of IATA (International Air Transport Association) and accredited with ATAS.

For Education Queensland schools, we are registered members of EQ as an authorised business. TravelEd is a registered Australian Business with ASIC (No. 46 606 747 504) and has full comprehensive Professional Indemnity Insurance; Public and Products Liability Insurance with CGU ‘TravelCover’ for peace of mind.

What type of experience does TravelEd have?

With over 35 years’ experience in education and travel; TravelEd’s first-hand knowledge offers students and teachers living lessons within Australia and around the world. Our team have all taken group tours abroad and have a great understanding of needs and logistics of these trips to ensure a seamless and stress-free experience for everyone.

When students are on tour, will they be safe?

Safety is and always will be our number one priority. TravelEd has risk assessment procedures in place with all suppliers we work with. All of the services provided by our international ground handlers have undergone extensive risk assessment evaluations and are controlled by their country’s government safety regulations. We try to reuse the same suppliers whenever possible, so we can personally vouch for their reliability.

Our comprehensive safety management system, coupled with our incident management plan, ensure we are in the best position to mitigate risk and respond to incidents when they occur.

What type of accommodation will my child be staying in?

TravelEd have partners all over the world who we use to accommodate our schools. We are able to choose anything from camping and hostels to 5* hotels. This is dependent on the destination and availability for the school tour and school requests. Of course, we will only use facilities which are clean, safe and in a reliable location.

Can we pay for our tour in installments?

Yes, we are able to accommodate payment systems which will suit the parents and the school. This can be payments in full or scheduled payment plans via credit card (this will incur a credit card fee) or direct deposits. TravelEd and your school will make a decision on payment procedures and will inform the payee of this arrangement.

What will my child need to take on tour?

The school will most likely send home a suggested packing list for individual tours and TravelEd would advise the essentials are: Passport, cash, money travel card, camera or smartphone, comfortable walking shoes (an extra pair is advised), backpack, a book or entertainment for the plane, weather appropriate clothing, i.e. sunhat, rain jacket, warm clothes, swimwear etc.

How much money will my child need on tour?

TravelEd suggests having at least enough additional funds to cover excluded meals, sightseeing and tipping, if necessary. Ultimately, this is up to the parent’s discretion.

Will my child need a passport and visa?

All students travelling outside of Australia must have a valid passport; expiring at least six months or more after the date the tour concludes.

If travelling overseas, TravelEd will assume you are travelling on an Australian passport unless advised otherwise. It is the traveller’s responsibility to check their visa requirements and make arrangements accordingly. We can assist with general enquires or help arrange visas through external sources, which are subject to applicable fees, and can help with Letters of Support if required.

Is travel insurance included?

It is mandatory for adequate and valid travel insurance to be obtained for all bookings made with TravelEd, this is not included in the tour cost. We can offer travel insurance through our partners, or schools can choose to use their own insurance, this will be at the discretion of the school.

Can my child be accommodated for special dietary requirements?

The safety of students is our top priority, and we understand there may be students with allergies and intolerances. The teacher in charge of the tour will receive a dietary requirement form to fill in and send back to the Tour Coordinator during the planning process. We will do our best to cater to each student’s specific needs, and if we are unable to accommodate your request for any reason, we will advise you as early as possible.

Can anyone be included on tour?

We can assist with organising suitable packages for groups of parents and supporters who wish to travel with the main tour party. Parents and supporters can be included with the rest of the tour or we can help with their own individual arrangements if desired.

This will be at the discretion of the touring school and will need approval. We generally book parents and supporters into different accommodation to the main group.

Are students able to continue travelling with family after the tour finishes?

Yes. Students can meet up with their families after the tour to continue travelling. TravelEd can help with the family holiday as well which ensures a stress-free holiday for both school tour and families and can make sure everyone is in the same location at the end of the tour.

It is entirely up to the school’s discretion if they will approve the request for a student to stay on after the tour or if they have to travel home as a group.

Can I collect frequent flyer points?

TravelEd are happy to add your frequent flyer number to bookings where possible, however not all group bookings are frequent flyer point accruable, so we cannot guarantee this. A frequent flyer account must also be under the same name as per the ticket. For example, a parent cannot use their frequent flyer number to claim points for their child’s booking.
